Welcome to the California Public Utilities Commission’s (CPUC) web site for the Tri-Valley 2002 Capacity Increase Project. Pacific Gas & Electric Company (PG&E) submitted Application Number 99-11-025 on November 22, 1999. The application requested authority to construct and operate two new substations, 13.4 miles of 230 kilovolt (kV) transmission lines, and related upgrades to existing facilities in the Cities of Dublin, Livermore, Pleasanton, and San Ramon, and in portions of unincorporated Alameda and Contra Costa Counties adjacent to these cities.

The CPUC released a Draft Environmental Impact Report in December of 2000. The Final Environmental Impact Report was released on April 18, 2001. Copies of these documents may be viewed here.

The Tri-Valley Project was approved by CPUC Decision D.01-10-029 on October 10, 2001, and construction began in September 2002. The CPUC, through its Environmental Review Team, has completed an environmental review of the project.
