General Order 64-A
Section VIII
Detailed Construction Requirements For Communication Lines
(Class C Circuits)
86.4 Clearances.
A.
General.
The clearance of guys from the
ground and from other wires is specified in Tables 1 and 2. Overhead guys passing through the levels of
conductors of different ownership shall do so only between pole pin positions or
outside of outer pin positions on the cross arm. All other guys passing through the levels of other conductors
shall maintain the clearances of Table 2, Case 16, recognizing the requirements
for future construction as indicated by installed facilities.
Guys passing in proximity to
poles or structures shall be maintained not less than a 3 inch horizontal
distance from the surface thereof wherever possible.
The vertical clearance of 8 feet
between guys and buildings, (Table 1, Case 6, Column A), may be reduced to 2 feet
over roofs of ¼ pitch (26° from horizontal) or greater.
B.
Two or More Guys.
Two or more overhead or span guys
attached to the same poles, either or both of which support communication
conductors, require no vertical separation between the points of attachment on
the pole, or poles.
