General Order 64-A
Section II
General Provisions
26
Joint Use Of Poles.
In
furnishing electrical supply and signal service to the public, the many local
distribution circuits necessary therefore would in many cases result in an
undue multiplicity of pole lines on streets, if the joint use of poles by
different utilities were not resorted to.
In
general, a joint pole line is preferable to separate conflicting pole lines
along the same street wherever the conditions are such that the joint line can
be made to conform to the provisions of theses rules. It is realized, however that the joint use of poles is not always
practicable or expedient, and nothing herein shall be construed as requiring
utilities to jointly use the same poles, or as giving authority for the use of any
poles without the owner’s consent. (See
Rule 23, also Section X.)
