General Order 64
Section X
Joint Poles Or Poles Jointly Used
103
Clearance And Relarive Position Of
Circuits.
The
conductor clearances to be observed in joint pole construction are covered in
the general rules of Section IV. (See
Appendix E, Figs. 10, 37 and 38.)
The
different circuits on joint poles generally should be arranged in the order of
their operating voltages, those of the highest voltage occupying the highest
position, except that Class “T” attachments, if present, shall occupy the
lowest position on the pole. Thus on
poles on which these are Classes “L,” “S” and “T” circuits, these classes of
circuits shall occupy respectively the highest, intermediate and lowest
positions.
Where
railway feeder circuits have only infrequent tap connections to the trolley
contact wire the foregoing rule need not apply, and such railway feeders may be
located and classed as ordinary supply conductors of equal voltage. Tap connections from feeder to trolley wire
should not be run close to signal conductors, and the taps should be given
ample clearance or else protected by proper conduit where signal lines are
below trolley feeders and taps are made.
(See Rule 63 (d).)
