DATE: September 22, 1997 A. INTRODUCTION Construction continued on Segment 2, Angeles National Forest (Milepost (MP) 33 to 57) and Segment 5 (MP 108 to 118). B. SEGMENT 2A CONSTRUCTION PROGRESS This segment within the Angeles Forest Service involves very steep slopes and requires significant time and additional equipment for trenching, stringing, and other pipe laying activities. Segment 2A Environmental Monitor (EM), Stan Harding was on-site. PPSI has 12 craft inspectors, six environmental inspectors, and six Native American monitors inspecting the work of approximately 160 contractor employees. Segment 2A Comments:
C. SEGMENT 5C CONSTRUCTION PROGRESS This segment involves construction in railroad and road right-of-ways through industrial areas. Segment 5C EM, Pete Messick, has been on-site during day construction (7 a.m. until 4 p.m.). PPSI has four craft inspectors, one environmental inspector, one Native American monitor, and one contamination inspector inspecting the work of approximately 25 contractor employees during construction. Construction progress from September 15 through 19, 1997 included the following:
D. VARIANCES No variances were approved September 15 through 19, 1997. E. EXTRA WORK SPACE No extra work spaces were approved September 15 through 19, 1997. F. GENERAL PLANS FOR NEXT WEEK Segment 2A and Segment 5C to continue. Segment 4 projected to begin September 29. Segments 1 and 3 are expected to begin in late September; El Segundo portion of Segment 4 (Watts Junction to Chevron El Segundo Refinery) expected to begin in October. |
