The following is a brief summary of the environmental monitoring activities that were completed between January 13, 1999 1:00 and 1:00 on January 14, 1999. Construction Highlights
01/13/99 (Wednesday)Segment 1 (Emidio Pump Station to Copco Road): Report for 13 January 1999: Backfill was performed on both sides of the I-5/Tejon bore today. Clean up continued at the Warbler Skip along Lebec Road. Welders placed 6" pipe into the culvert at Cuddy Creek for dewatering operations scheduled for tomorrow. Clean up and fence repairs were performed on Tejon Bench. Fiber optic splicing was done south of the aqueduct. Testing crews dewatered the pipe between the California Aqueduct and Grapevine Station into the bar ditch along Highway 166. Welders continued to weld surplus pipe. Crews began work on the tie in at the California Aqueduct crossing. The hydrotest crew began the process to test the section of pipe from Grapevine Station to the Warbler Skip.
Segment 5 (Lynwood to Long Beach): Report for 1-13-99. Crews at the Edison tie-in site near EMP 113.5 welded, x-rayed and coated pipe sections to be inserted into the bore. Near the south end of Tosco, crews welded 40' sections of pipe together then staged the material for the Huntway segment. Crews working within the Tosco refinery continued backfill of the station drain lines and progressed with final electrical work. In addition, crews began potholing for the Huntway segment and excavated around the 16'' manifold. Segment 4B (Lynwood to El Segundo): Crews completed the brick work and plan to install the glass block for the false windows shortly. Further, crews started hanging the large roll down door on the east end of the station. At El Segundo, crews installed the station meters and continued paving along the station boundry.
