The following is a brief summary of the environmental monitoring activities that were completed between January 15, 1999 1:00 and 1:00 on January 16, 1999. Construction Highlights
01/15/99 (Friday)Segment 1 (Emidio Pump Station to Copco Road): Report for 15 January 1999: Dewatering began at Stream Crossing #1 after the successful hydrotest of the final section of pipe between the Warbler Skip and Grapevine Station. Welding and x-ray of surplus pipe and pups continued along Highway 166. Backfill moved forward at the bore site for I-5/Tejon, on the west side. General clean up was done segment wide, as well as fence repair on Tejon Bench. Cleaning pigs were run through the section of pipe between Copco Road and Cuddy Creek, after the water that stood in the pipe for an extended period of time was discharged into Cuddy Creek Tributary.
Segment 5 (Lynwood to Long Beach): Report for 1-15-99. Crews completed insertion of pipe through the Edison bore near EMP 113.5. South of the Tosco refinery crews continued welding 40' sections of pipe together and staging pipe for the Huntway project. Meanwhile, crews backfilled drain lines, collected debris and pulled wire for the valves. In addition, crews walked the station to create a punch list. Segment 4B (Lynwod to El Segundo): Crews continued clean up, pressure washing of the brick face and removal of scaffolding at the Lynwood station site.
