Construction Highlights
01/21/99 (Thursday)Segment 1 (Emidio Pump Station to Copco Road): Report for 21 January 1999: Clean up activities occurred across the segment. Backfill continued at Flying J, and Grapevine Road tie in locations. A crew welded on a 2" vent pipe at Copco Road to assist during filling of the pipe with oil. Welding and x-ray continued on the pipe strung along Highway 166. Restoration efforts began between the south Aqueduct and Grapevine Road on Tejon Ranch.
Segment 5 (Lynwood to Long Beach): Report for 1-21-99. Crews working at the Edison site near EMP 113.5 welded and x-rayed the valve for the 16'' bore pipe. In addition, crews knocked out a section of the vault bottom and began moving the large concrete top to a staging area. Crews working at the Huntway segment removed 200' of asphalt from the trench line and placed k-rail into the ditch. Meanwhile, work progressed on the bore pit inside the Tosco refinery. Further, crews continued electrical work, welding 16'' pipe and excavating a short section near the meter skid for the tie-in to Huntway. Segment 4B (Lynwood to El Segundo): Brick and glass block were completed for the Lynwood station today while carpenters neared completion of the roof work. At El Segundo, crews paved a short section near the meter skid, removed excess spoils and began painting the pipes.
