The following is a brief summary of the environmental monitoring activities that were completed on December 18, 1998. This summary is based on reports directly received from the field and has not been edited. If you have any questions please contact (818) 597-3407. Construction Highlights
12/18/98 (Friday)Segment 1 report for 12/18/98: No work was done at Emidio and Grapevine Pump Stations. At the Stream Crossing #4 bore (EMP 9.03) tie-in of the bore to the mainline was completed and backfill was in progress. The segment of pipe to tie-into the Tecuya Creek/I-5 bore was being welded, x-rayed and coated from EMP 9.86 to 9.78. The pipe is being pushed through the California Aqueduct bore (EMP 12.28). Casing is being installed at both the Stream Crossing #9 (EMP 15.35) and the Tejon Bench/I-5 (EMP 16.49) bores. On Grapevine Rd., shading, compaction and conduit occurred to EMP 15.55. Backfill progress in this area and Tejon Bench is slow due to the abundance of rock present in the excavated soil. The soil has to be run through a sifter to separate it from the rock, then trucked back to the trench for shading and backfill. On Tejon Bench, shading is in progress from EMP 16.87 to 16.57. Trench occurred to EMP 17.98. Pipe has been welded, x-rayed and coated to EMP 18.00. On Lebec Rd., excavation of the trench continued working south to EMP 21.67. Pipe was welded, x-rayed and coated to EMP 21.64.
