The following is a brief summary of the environmental monitoring activities that were completed on December 29, 1998. This summary is based on reports directly received from the field and has not been edited. If you have any questions please contact (818) 597-3407. Construction Highlights

12/29/98 (Tuesday)

Segment 1 (Emidio Pump Station to Copco Road): Report for 29 December 1998: 8" pipe removal continued along Copco Road. Crews at Cuddy Creek prepared for and began the Hydrotest. Excavation and the trucking of spoils continued on Tejon Bench. The bore at Grapevine Creek was done when crews began digging for the casing on the south side of the creek. Some ditch was dug in this area to connect the I-5 bore to the mainline. Work at both Grapevine and Emidio Pump Stations occurred. Crews backfilled at the south aqueduct area. Welding and x-ray worked at the Warbler Skip along Lebec Road. NCR # 11010 was issued for continuing non compliance of the Erosion Control Plan at the Warbler Skip. (NCR issued on 12/28/98 was #110009).

Segment 4 (Lynwwod to El Segundo): Report for 12-29-98. Crews completed the block wall at the Lynwwod station and have begun work on the brick facia. In addition, crews set in anodes for cathodic protection of the pipe and continued work on the sites electrical hook ups. At the El Segundo refinery, crews continued with a general clean up and began testing the valves electrical system.

Segment 5 (Lynwood to Wilmington): Report for 12-29-98. Crews began potholing the roadway in preparation for the bore from the future Edison pump station lateral site at Alameda St north of Del Amo Blvd. Meanwhile, crews welded a riser for the tie-in at the Texaco site and continued coating the pipe at the Tosco tie-in. Within the Tosco plant crews compacted soil, backfilled, installed further valves and progressed with the electrical hook ups for the station.
