Construction Highlights
12/31/98 (Thursday)Segment 1 (Emidio Pump Station to Copco Road): Report for 31 December 1998: Backfill began near an entrance to the Flying J, just north of Cuddy Creek, today; most backfill was complete, and some temporary asphalt was placed. The crew at the Warbler Skip along Lebec Road completed their tie in, while FOC crews struggled with the water-laden area to place conduit. Some initial paving was done on the north end of this work. Work on Tejon Bench consisted of the string of pipe for the Tejon Ranch water line, as well as lowering in of carrier pipe on the remaining ~140 feet of ditch. Crews at the I-5/Tejon Bench bore began pushing pipe through the casing. Backfill crews worked on upper Grapevine Road to prepare for paving. An excavator continued to work on the south side of Grapevine Creek, digging out a ditch line for the bore tie in. Continuing work occurred at Grapvine and Emidio Pump Stations. Minor backfill occurred on the south side of the aqueduct crossing. Spoil was being moved around at the frontage road, as well as slurry being poured around the valve area. Fiber optic crews finished pulling cable under I-5 at this location.
