CALIFORNIA PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION

HOLDS PUBLIC MEETINGS ON

PROPOSED SALE OF MOHAVE GENERATING STATION

The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) will hold two public meetings to discuss the environmental review of Southern California Edison’s (SCE) proposed sale of its majority ownership in the Mohave Generating Station (MGS) located in Laughlin, Nevada.

Participants will be given an overview of the proposed sale and will have the opportunity to provide comments on the environmental document prepared by the CPUC.

The meetings will be held on February 9, 2000, at:

1:00 to 3:00 p.m. (PST)

Laughlin Library 2840 S. Needles Highway Laughlin, Nevada

6:00 to 8:00 p.m. (MST)

Bullhead City Council Chamber 1255 Marina Boulevard Bullhead, Arizona

Both meeting locations are wheelchair accessible, and an interpreter may be provided by contacting (415) 989-1446, ext. 31, at least five working days before the meeting.

SCE filed an application with the CPUC on October 14, 1999, to sell its majority ownership in the MGS in response to electric utility industry restructuring in California. The application is part of a CPUC general proceeding before Assigned Commissioner Richard Bilas and Administrative
Law Judge Robert Barnett.

The environmental document the CPUC prepared, the Draft Mitigated Negative Declaration, analyzes any environmental impacts that could result from the sale.

A final version will be prepared after the public comment period ends on March 13, 2000

.
Starting February 8, the environmental document can be viewed on the CPUC web site at: www.cpuc.ca.gov/divisions/energy/environmental/info/mha/mohave,
or viewed at the following locations:

The Laughlin Library, 2840 S. Needles Highway in Laughlin, Nevada

The Bullhead City Library, 1170 Hancock Road in Bullhead City, Arizona
