47.2    Use of Guys

Where supports capable of considerable deflection, such wood or concrete poles or certain types of steel poles or towers, are employed and are by themselves inadequate to meet longitudinal stresses, such strength shall be provided by the use of guys or suitable bracing which will also prevent reduction of prescribed clearances.
