CEQA Compliance

The CPUC is the lead agency under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and is responsible for conducting the environmental review of the proposed project.  The CPUC determined that a Supplemental Environmental Impact Report (EIR) was needed to be prepared to assess the potential impacts of  the proposed project.

Environmental Documents

The CPUC has prepared an Initial Study for the proposed project.  An Initial Study is a preliminary assessment of the project's potential impacts.

The CPUC has prepared a Final Supplemental Environmental Impact Report (SEIR) for the proposed project.  The Final SEIR includes the contents of the Draft SEIR plus responses to comments and a mitigation monitoring program.

The following are  dates for important steps in the EIR process:

  • Notice of Preparation circulated          Mid. July 1999
  • Scoping Meetings                               July 1999
  • Draft SEIR Review Period                  Dec. 6, 1999-Jan. 20, 2000
  • Final EIR published                             April 2000
