Dear Mr. Shauers:
This letter will approve Variance Request No. 15 from Kenneth J. Lord, dated August 5, 1997, regarding the modification of the ANF Fire Protection Plan to reduce the clearance of flammable vegetation to less than 25 feet approved in variance 11 in certain situations. This approval is subject to the following additional conditions:
Each welding crew shal be equipped withcommunications meeting the specifications of 3.1e of the Fire Protection Plan.
The Project Fire Gaurd (specifications of 3.1f of the Fire Protection Plan) and the fire patrol truck (specifications of 3.1d and e of the Fire Protection Plan) shall remain in the area at least 2 hours after welding has been completed.
This Variance is not approved during Activity Level IV or V.
