General Order 64
Section X
Joint Poles Or Poles Jointly Used
104 Grades Of Construction.
(a) Joint
pole lines shall be constructed in accordance with the grades of construction
specified in Section V.
The strengths of crossarms,
conductors and fastenings will be determined by the various grades required by
Section V for the individual circuits of different classes on the pole under
the conditions existing.
The strength of pole
required will be determined by using the total loading, computed according to
Rule 52, due to all circuits occupying the pole, the grade of construction
(safety Factor) to be the highest grade required in Rule 51 for any circuit
present or condition existing.
(b) As an extension to the above, on pole where all supply conductors are above the signal conductors, in calculating the transverse pressure upon the jointly occupied poles the number of signal conductors upon which the transverse pressure is calculated shall be taken as only one-half their total number, provided that they are smaller than No. 8 A.W.G.
(c) At crossings, or conflicts with other lines the above Rules (a) and (b) will apply, due regard being given to the grade of construction required by each circuit under the condition existing.
